Suffolk Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2021

Citrus were delighted to have received so many very worthy Environmental Awards entries in our role as sponsor of the Environmental Business of the Year Award at The Suffolk Chamber of Commerce in Lowestoft & Waveney Business Awards 2021 which took place last night, & selecting our 2 finalists was challenging!

Runner-up Re-Utilise is a Community interest Charity who have gone the extra mile to engage with business to separate reusable products that would be otherwise be destroyed.. The donated waste items are sold to groups & individuals for art & Craft materials. Donated paint is resold for £1.00 per litre, mostly to the local community, but also farther afield. Citrus felt that the family engagement of the Scraps Challenge was a valuable learning for kids of all ages working together, along with family, carers, & the dedicated team of volunteers to have fun using their imagination to use scrap materials to regularly create models & artwork.

All in, Citrus loved the commitment to sourcing & reusing business waste, which is made saleable, & engendering less wasteful habits in young people is hugely important to save the world.

Winner Cycle Recycle Principles to Promote Cycling, Saving customers money & Keeping bikes out of waste streams ( over 9000 unwanted bicycles in 10 years) has attracted customers of all ages throughout the Eastern Counties to visit Lowestoft & Waveney for services, recycled parts & renovated bicycles. The business is growing because recreational & competitive cyclists value the teams commitment to the hard task of dismantling cycles, making use of all possible parts. Congratulations on your business expansion. Citrus wish you well in your new shop in Long Stratton, improving healthy living & promoting sustainable cycling that reduces our Carbon footprint in the East.

Clare Balding OBE entertains guests at Suffolk Chamber event

Clare Balding speaking at the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce Prestige Dinner

Suffolk Chamber of Commerce’s first Prestige Dinner for nearly two years proved to be a great success as almost 200 guests were entertained to broadcaster and author Clare Balding OBE’s recollections of her career and life experiences.

In her first live public appearance since the first national lockdown in March 2020, Clare Balding spoke to her very appreciative audience for well over half an hour.

She recounted stories from her multifaceted career, including about the Olympics, her interviews with leading sportspeople and her various appearances on Celebrity Gogglebox.

She also spoke about the importance of team building, motivation and core beliefs in delivering successful outcomes whether in the media or in business more generally.

According to John Dugmore, Suffolk Chamber’s chief executive: “It was a great night. I think her stories of aiming high, planning carefully and coping with setbacks resonated with our audience, most of whom have probably experienced such highs and lows in business, especially over the last 18 months.”
